RMI (The Indonesian Institute for Forest And Environment)

Founded in 1992, RMI is a non-profit organization which aims to promote natural resource conservation in Indonesia by conducting research and field action programs related to the protection, preservation, and utilization of natural resources for community prosperity. RMI promotes participatory, community-based natural resource management and environmental education programs.

HSF and RMI collaborate to strengthen the administration of environmental protection in Indonesia through the Environmental Education and Biodiversity Routes Program (REPLING), which is currently operating in the Bogor Botanical Gardens, the Cibodas Botanical Gardens in Cibodas, and the Eka Karya Botanical Gardens in Bali. Through this cooperative program, HSF and RMI share scientists, information, technology, and other necessary resources to increase public awareness on environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation. The purpose of this program is to increase the educational function of the botanical gardens as an ex-situ conservation area. The REPLING program reaches out to botanical garden staff, students, and visitors of the gardens.
